Self-Discovery Test with 1-on-1 University Study Consultation & Planning
Self-Discovery for students who want to understand themselves better before choosing a study pathway, university major or future direction.
The Self-Discovery programme from EFL Learning Centre 2 is designed to help students better understand themselves through three assessments, followed by personalised analysis and a 1-on-1 consultation with an education specialist.
Rather than simply using test results to tell students what they “should study”, we look at the results alongside their interests, goals and ideas for the future. This helps students explore suitable academic options and make more informed decisions about their next steps.
Understand Yourself Better Before Making Decisions About Further Education
“What should I study at university?”, “Which career would suit me?” and “Which academic pathway should I choose?” are questions many students begin asking during their secondary school years.
Finding the answer does not have to begin with choosing a university. A better starting point is often understanding your interests, strengths, study skills and personal goals first.
The Self-Discovery programme therefore combines two important elements: self-discovery assessments, which provide useful insights into the student, and a personal 1-on-1 consultation with an education specialist, who helps interpret the results, connect the different findings and turn them into practical ideas for future study planning.
How Can a Self-Discovery Test Help Students Plan Their Education?
Self-Discovery is designed as a process that takes students from understanding themselves to exploring possible next steps. It is not simply a test followed by a results report.
Students begin by completing three assessments covering different aspects of their interests, learning and mindset. An education specialist then reviews the results and discusses them individually with the student, helping connect what has been discovered with possible education pathways.
There is no single answer or identical plan for every student. Recommendations are considered together with each student’s interests, goals, age and current stage of education.
Who Is the Self-Discovery Programme For?
Self-Discovery is suitable for students in Grades 7–12, particularly those who are still uncertain about their future academic direction.
It may be helpful for students who:
- Are unsure which careers or fields interest them
- Are choosing an academic pathway or planning their next stage of education
- Are not yet sure which university major or subject area to choose
- Are considering Thai and international study programmes
- Are interested in studying abroad but do not know where to begin
- Want to understand their academic strengths and areas for development
- Have parents who would like more information to support education planning together
Students do not need to already know what they want to do in the future. The purpose of Self-Discovery is to help them begin exploring those possibilities in a more structured way.
The Self-Discovery Programme Includes 3 Assessments
Career Cluster: Explore Career Interests & Possible Career Paths
The Career Cluster assessment helps students explore career areas and types of work that may align with their interests.
- Identifies 3 career options that correspond with the assessment results
- Helps students explore whether those careers genuinely interest them
- Provides a starting point for considering related areas of study
- Supports more focused conversations about future study and career direction
- Does not tell students which career they must choose, but helps open up possible options
Study Skills Assessment: Understand Your Academic Strengths and Study Habits
The Study Skills Assessment helps students understand how they currently approach learning and identify areas that may support their future academic development.
- Evaluates time and task management
- Reviews concentration and memory
- Assesses study and note-taking techniques
- Looks at exam preparation and anxiety management
- Covers information organisation, motivation and attitude towards learning
- Reviews reading and writing skills
- Helps identify existing strengths and areas that may benefit from further development
- Provides insights that can support better study habits and preparation for future academic goals
Academic Mindset (Grit Scale): Understand Your Approach to Learning
The Academic Mindset assessment uses the Grit Scale to explore another important aspect of a student’s approach to learning and personal development.
- Provides additional insight into the student's learning profile
- Is considered together with the Career Cluster and Study Skills Assessment
- Is reviewed alongside an individual conversation with the student
- Helps the education specialist develop a broader understanding of the student
- Supports discussions about suitable study pathways, including Thai programmes, international programmes and possible study abroad plans
From Self-Discovery Test Results to a Personalised 1-on-1 Study Consultation
The Self-Discovery process does not end once all three assessments are completed. Test results become much more useful when they are explained in context and considered alongside the student’s own interests, questions and goals.
After completing the assessments, an EFL education specialist will review the results with the student during a 30–60 minute 1-on-1 consultation.
During the session, students can discuss their interests, favourite subjects, goals and any areas they are uncertain about. The specialist will then help connect the assessment findings with possible academic and university pathways.
Consultations are available both online and on-site, depending on the preference of the student and their parents.
Who Will Analyse the Self-Discovery Results?
Self-Discovery results are reviewed by education specialists selected by EFL Learning Centre. The consultants have experience working with students, understand different education systems and are able to connect assessment findings with each student’s individual academic goals.
The team includes:
- Teacher Laila Vander loo, who has experience related to university admissions in Europe
- Teacher Daung Teza, who specialises in International GCSE and A Level education
The consultation therefore goes beyond explaining what each assessment score means. Students can also discuss what they may want to explore, prepare for or develop as they plan their future education.
